How To Get More Facebook Fans For Your Real Estate or Mortgage Page

 Facebook has been a “lead source god” to many Real Estate Agents and Mortgage Agents. If you have a facebook business page, but don’t have many fans/only have other Agents as fans, here’s what you need to do.
 
How To Get More Fans:
 
- send an email to your database of clients and prospects saying you’ve set up a facebook fan page (and include the link) and would really appreciate it if they “like” your page. You want to make sure your fans are clients and prospects, with some other Agents also, not a fan page with only other Agents.
 
- send messages to your facebook friends (you can send one message to 20 people at a time) saying you’ve set up a facebook fan page (and include the link) and ask them to “like” it. Again, try and make sure that you are asking clients and prospects mostly – otherwise you will be missing out on the chance to interact with people that may one day pay you for your services!
 
- make sure you update your page at least twice a week, and not just with sales pitches, mortgage rate updates, or new real estate listings. Include fun facts, pictures of beautiful homes, or celebrity homes, and cool events in your area - just make sure you respond to any comments that people make on your page, even if they don’t leave a question.
 
- set up little contests on your page with rewards. For example, a  ”Tell me your favourite thing about Spring to win a $10 Starbucks card. Post on my wall to enter” contest would work well. Just make sure that what you’re asking is something your target market would know about, or would be interested in, and make sure that your reward is also something your target market wants.
 
Make sure your facebook page content is geared towards your target market. Otherwise you could be alienating the very people you are trying to connect with.
 
-keep in mind that social media works in 3 phases; before, during and after. What that means is that you can talk about and promote things before they happen, post updates during, and then post on it after too. This extends the life of any event and helps to build excitement. For example, if you are going to a charity event – use social media to promote the event prior to the date. In this phase you can update your status on everything from what you will be wearing, to how much you are donating/fundraising, to who is going to accompany you to the event. During the event you can update your social media profiles on all the great door prizes, funny things that happened during the auction, upload pictures of the event space & amazing cocktail bar etc. After the event use your social media profiles to thank the organizers, update everyone on how much was raised in total, and post additional pictures (just make sure you tag everyone in the pics to help make your update viral). 
 
 Places your facebook business page link should be:
 
  • your website (your web person can do this for you)
  • your newsletters/e-newsletters (on every newsletter, not just once)
  • your email signature
  • your marketing materials (on your postcards, newsletters, and business cards, for example)
  • your blog, linkedin, twitter and youtube
 
Also –
 
When you are in your business page, on the left hand side underneath your banner, there’s a “Suggest to Friends” option. Suggest your page to friends, but keep in mind the email and facebook message (up to 20 contacts at a time) will get a better response.
